Ingersoll Rand the original inventor of the impact tool back in 1934 has released it's newest air tool called the HammerHead. The Pros
The feature controls of the HammerHead are it's feather-touch trigger, two position forward power regulator and a conveniently located forward/reverse ring that provide control unequivocal to any like tool on the market. With a head height of 2 inches and reactionless torque that allows the tool to be used safely in tight places without the risk of smashing hands or fingers. The tool has a real nice look and feel, the trigger and forward/reverse mechanism are nicely located and have a smooth feel to them and the handle is comfortable.
The Ingersoll Rand Hammerhead impact ratchet is ideal when speed and power are essential and is perfect for doing just about any type of industrial maintenance or automotive mechanical repair to include clutch work, brake jobs, engine tear down and works great busting loose crank bolts and in tight places within the engine compartment.
The Cons
Back in July of 2010 Ingersoll Rand issued a recall on the Hammerhead and requested a voluntary return of the initial production lot of these power tools because of a problem with many of the tools having sticking triggers causing the tool too run wide open as soon as air was connected to the inlet. The issue has since been corrected.
Conclusion
The Ingersoll Rand Hammerhead impact ratchet will pay for itself in time saved and is a definite toolbox essential for the serious technician or do it yourself, that will undoubtedly increase your productivity. The 90 degree head angle and 180 ft lbs of reactionless nut busting torque make it a mechanics dream come true.
